setting: the mood is very intense, and dramatic. there is not very many paragraphs where it is calm. The time period is around 1810, in a made up island called "Humigrale"

main conflit is when she is fighting with utakra at the cliffs edge

AFTER

5. The main character changes throughout the story. One way she changes is that she realized how children have great influence on adults, and then she realized that Utakra was not actually her best friend and that he's been stalking her. At the beginning, she's kind of shy and calm, but in the end, her best friend dies and all she does is walk away.

6.One of the ironic things about this story is that she was saying that she's isn't scared about getting lost because she can go around the island with her eyes closed. Then she gets lost in the dark, which is basically the same as having your eyes closed. Another piece of irony is that she found Utakra's arrow head in the meadow and then she was saying how hard it is to find an arrow head in a meadow.

7. The sharp rocks at the bottom of the cliff represent Utakra's death. Utakra's arrow head that he purposly planted in the meadow is a symbol for his violence.

8.The main theme of the story is that children ultimately have a great influence on adults. Many adults don't realize that even though children are a younger generation, and are supposed to learn from their elders, the elders learn and gain from children's expierences and actions. The theme is expressed in the story from how the children's simple words (mostly) turned lifelong friends into enemies. For example, if there were no children existing on the island, then most likely the adults could of co-operated and agreed on a solution to dealing with the flower fairly. There would also be no body to unintentionally taint other people's opinions. The youth would have a more broad and open-ended mind set that exceed the boundaries of old traditions.
